Vienna Space Diplomat

Climate, security, mobility, energy or health: space is at the heart of solving humankind's most urgent challenges, while serving as a rich source of inspiration, curiosity and imagination.

The Vienna Space Diplomat (VSD) platform, launched by the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) in 2023, seeks to facilitate diplomatic discourse on space related issues, bringing together policymakers, industry representatives and diplomats to promote consensus building through both formal and informal exchanges, in the context of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) agenda.

Agenda

Building on Slovenia’s focus on water as a foreign policy priority and ESPI’s work on space for water, this event will bring together space and water stakeholders to explore how space-based capabilities can strengthen water management, security, and diplomacy.

The discussion will help shape a broader “Space for Water” policy agenda and identify concrete actions for future cooperation.
